About BacktoTrack
We exist because capable people are being filtered out of work by paperwork, not by ability.
What we do
We are a recruitment marketplace for people who face barriers to employment — including people with criminal convictions or previous contact with the criminal justice system, and anyone who needs a fair-chance employer, a qualification, or practical help to get started.
We assess employment readiness honestly, help people obtain what they are missing, match them to vacancies they could actually start, and give employers a proper recruitment system.
What we are not
- We are not a government service and we do not run criminal-record checks.
- We do not give legal, financial, housing or medical advice.
- We do not hold a public register of anybody's record.
- We do not tell employers that a candidate is risk-free, because nobody can.
How we handle sensitive information
Criminal-record information is special-category data. We collect it only where there is a lawful reason, keep it apart from everything else, encrypt it, log every access, and delete it on a schedule. An administrator does not get to see it just because they are an administrator — it takes a separate, named role.
You can read the detail in our privacy notice and our policy on criminal-offence data.
Accessibility
We target WCAG 2.2 AA. The site works with a keyboard and a screen reader, respects reduced-motion settings, and avoids jargon. If something does not work for you, tell us and we will fix it.
